Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year

I’m Mr. DeMarzo, your homeroom teacher.

Your welcome call is a quick opportunity for us to introduce ourselves, confirm that your student is ready to begin, and answer any questions.

! Required before coursework begins: complete a brief start-of-year welcome call.

Most calls take about 10 minutes. Please have your student join when possible.

Confirm Readiness

We’ll verify contact information, review the course schedule, and confirm access to an appropriate computer or device.

Review Key Expectations

We’ll briefly cover startup tasks, attendance, LiveLessons, and required in-person state testing.

Get to Know Your Student

We’ll discuss strengths, support needs, interests, goals, and plans after graduation.

Beginning-of-Year Tasks

Incomplete items should appear on the appropriate To Do list in Connexus.

Important School Expectations Please review

Attendance

Learning Coaches record attendance. A full school day is generally 5 hours, with an expectation of 25 hours per week.

Students are expected to attend LiveLessons. Links will appear on the student planner.

Required State Testing

Students in grades 10–12 must attend required Alabama state testing in person.

In-person attendance is mandatory.
